So my school is having a drug meeting in a few weeks... it's not like my school has a drug issue. I actually go to a really nice school with some of the best people I've ever met (both teachers and students). But we're a high school. And high school is when people tend to experiment with substances and alcohol.
If you watch a lot of my videos, or know me even just a little bit, then you know that I don't do drugs. And it's for a few reasons. Of course there are many more reasons why I don't do drugs, but here are some of the main ones just so that you can kind of understand where I'm coming from while you're reading this.
1. I am a goody goody two shoes who is afraid of getting into trouble.
2. I spend my money on shoes and books, not weed.
3. I feel like I should be a good role model for my viewers, so while I still probably wouldn't do drugs even if I wasn't on YouTube, I just feel even more strongly about it.
4. I honestly have no desire to smoke weed or use any other drugs because I just have no interest. It just doesn't seem appealing to me.
5. I have such a nice life. I have a fantastic mom, best friend, boyfriend, friends, school, teachers, and I love the way I am. I would honestly hate myself if I screwed it all up just because I smoked some weed (I know that smoking weed doesn't mean that your life will be ruined, but personally for me, it could ruin my entire image and future because I am known for talking about teen issues and being a good role model). I have all of you guys watching me, and I hope that drugs don't ruin your life, so I definitely won't let them ruin mine.
Okay. So you might be wondering why I went over all of that. Here's my problem. Kids are going to do drugs anyway. Having a school meeting about drugs might inform people of the consequences, but people who smoke are still going to smoke. Sort of like what I said in my Dear Bully video: if you yell at kids and tell them how awful they are for bullying others, then why would they want to listen to you and stop? Yelling at kids never works. All that it does is it scares them and piss them off. And when kids are angry, they rebel.
So here's what I'm struggling with. Kids have done drugs. Kids do drugs. And kids will continue to do drugs. You can yell at them about it or scare them with pictures of people, but when it all comes down to it, you need to inspire them. Okay, okay: inspiring people not to do drugs... I know that it sounds stupid. But it's true. Like I've said before, if you want bullies to stop bullying others, then you can't yell at them. You have to sit them down, and inspire them. Tell them how rewarding it is to be nice to people. Explain how happy people can be by being a good person. Because it's true. Being mean is easy, but it hurts you back.
You need to explain to kids how they can be happy without doing drugs. And adults always say it, so people tend to ignore it (sorry to any adults who are reading this), but if people are picking on you or telling you that you aren't cool because you won't smoke or drink with them, then they are idiots and you are honestly so much better off without them. Anyone who is being mean to you while you're in high school... you are going to be rid of them and you will never have to see them again in a few years. So start now, and leave them behind. You will get so much farther just by being happy and not associating with bad people.
If kids don't care about the effects that it will have on themselves, then explain what can happen to others if they get into a car and put their foot on the gas pedal while high (or especially when drunk). While a lot of people say that being high while driving doesn't do anything, it does. It can make you less aware of your surroundings, and let's see... what are surroundings? Surroundings are pedestrians crossing the street, or other cars switching lanes. While you can't stop yourself from being a victim, you can prevent yourself from harming others.
So tell me... what do you think of drug talks? I'd also love to hear opinions on bully talks. Tell me what you've experienced, what you think is effective, and what inspires you!
Thanks for reading, have a nice day, and I'll be talking to you guys soon (whether it's through a blog post or a new video). Connect with me on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. I'm always updating because I love staying in contact with all of you. Feel free to email me if you ever need someone to talk to. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Be happy!
PS: Waking up doesn't mean your dreams are over, it means it's time to make them come true :)
So whether you already knew this or not, I upload an average of twelve videos each week! And it's kind of crazy because I normally don't run out of video ideas. Sure, sometimes I'm not in the mood to film, or am unsure of what video I want to film, but no matter what, when I sit in front of the camera, everything is simple and easy and fluid. And I really appreciate it, because as I think most YouTubers can understand, we go through gaps of being extremely passionate about YouTube, and not really feeling anything. As an example, from November of 2012 up until about May, I wasn't feeling very inspired. Sure, I filmed a lot of videos, and worked hard on the videos that I filmed, but I guess I just wasn't exactly craving to film. And right now that's how I feel. All the time. I have so many video ideas that I want to make a reality, and I wish that there were more hours in a day!
Now I have so many videos that I both want and have to post. Creating a video schedule was honestly one of the best decisions I've made when it comes to YouTube. If you aren't familiar with the schedule, then I'll explain it to you. I upload an average of 12 videos a week (minimum).
SaphiraFashion: I upload every other day (at least). So I upload about 3-4 videos a week.
SaphiraFashionTV: I upload daily vlogs. Sometimes they're late, but I have kept them up for over 130 days! So I upload 7 videos a week.
ShortBookWorm: It is my book channel, and I upload weekly videos every Thursday. Sometimes more than one video, but I upload at least 1 video a week.
SaphiraSings: Because I have so many other channels, and post so many videos, I noticed that my music channel was being left behind. There would be gaps of 3-6 months in between videos. Posting a video every week or every other week is too difficult for me, so I decided that monthly would be good. So on average I upload 1 video per month.
It's crazy, right?! But the schedule is so helpful for me because it helps me plan out video ideas, know how many videos I need to film on the weekend (because I don't film on school days unless it's for the daily vlog), and know when to edit and post them.
If anyone is new to YouTube and is struggling with posting videos, then schedules really help. Now of course you need to be realistic, because if you make the schedule really demanding, then you might give up and not fulfill all of the plans.
Anyway, just as an update on me, I'm still really happy. The daily vlog just finished uploading so I need to go and write the description box for it, but I'm a super happy person, and I have such an amazing life. Thank you for reading! My website got SO many hits yesterday, it kind of freaked me out haha. I'm really proud that I've been posting blogs for three days now, and I'd love to know what you think! I want to fit some reading in because it's my free period at school and I need to finish A Game of Thrones, so this is it, but thanks again for always being so supportive!
PS: BE HAPPY :)
First of all... views don't matter to me. I'd still be doing YouTube videos even if I just had 100 subscribers and 5 views per video, because I love it. And that's why I am so shocked that my views have been getting so high lately! I never thought that this would happen to me.
People ask me all the time "Why did you start making YouTube videos?" and the odd thing is... I don't really know. I saw other people doing it, and loved watching them. And then one day I kind of found myself talking to my mirror about my huge knowledge of beauty products (total nonsense), and my best friend, Camila, told me that she wanted to start making YouTube beauty videos and that I should do it with her. It was then that I realized that I could actually film myself, post it to YouTube, and have people watch it. It's weird, right? How people can change their lives so drastically pretty much just by accident. I love my life. I am so insanely happy and I will not let anyone take that away from me. Tell me: what is the one thing in your life that changed everything else? And is it a good thing or a bad thing?
All the love in the world,
PS: Don't let the world scare you. Scare the world.
Hi everyone! It has been forever since I have updated this blog! Way back in the day, I used to do daily blogs, and loved it! That was actually the birth of SaphiraFashion! And guess what else... they're all still live and public on this website! In this blog! I know! It's so weird! Anyway, I have been getting really into YouTube lately (not that I wasn't completely obsessed with it before), but I just thought that I'd start updating this website more! So I'm going to make an effort to post at least once a week! Maybe I'll post daily, maybe everyday, but at least once a week, because I feel really badly about how I've only been posting on here every few months. It makes me feel guilty because I used to post on here all the time and if it hadn't been for this site, then I wouldn't be doing what I do today, and I definitely wouldn't be the person who I am today. And I am so happy!
Here's the thing: what should I post about? I'm not sure if you'd like me to come up with products to review, brands to talk about, or just kind of talk about what's on my mind. Please comment telling me! I'd love to know!
If you want me to just kind of talk about how I'm feeling and what I've been up to, then maybe I can turn this sort of into a diary type thing. That would be so fun for me! I love being able to open up to you guys, because you're so accepting and understanding. Obviously I won't be able to talk about every detail of my life, but I'm definitely able to talk about a lot.
I've never really been the diary-keeping type, but I guess we can see how it works...? I just think it's cool that I would be able to open this site in a few years and read exactly what I was thinking while I was in high school. It's sort of like how sometimes I'll go back and look at old videos to see how much my opinions on certain things have either changed, or even more interestingly, have stayed the same.
I'm gonna call this the end of the post, because I type really fast, and in casual blog posts like this can tend to go on and on and on and on. Please comment with your opinion, because yes, it really does mean something to me, and I read all of my comments. Talk to you soon! Definitely within a week, and hopefully sooner! I love you all to the sun and back! I never understood why people always thought that the moon was cooler... whatever. Thanks for reading, and have a nice day!
